Manchester City star Gael Clichy has revealed that new manager Pep Guardiola has set up a very tough diet regime to get his players to lose weight.
he former Arsenal star revealed that pizza has been banned – it was a regular diet after matches under Manuel Pellegrini – and overweight players have been asked to train away fro the first team.

The new manager has banned pizza – and will not allow any player to train if he is overweight. If your weight is too high, you’re not training with the team,” said Clichy.

“That is the first thing and you can hear it a lot, but for my part it’s the first time any manager has really done it. So we have a few players who are not training with the team yet.”

Proper nutrition is key to Guardiola’s perfectionist regime, with Clichy explaining: “He cut out some juice and pizza and all the heavy food is not allowed.”

City are currently in China for the International Champions Cup, although their scheduled match against Manchester United was cancelled due to the poor quality of the pitch at the Bird’s Nest Stadium.
