2019: APC ‘Uncovers’ Secret Exercise To Rig Elections In Abia

Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Thursday said it has uncovered an ongoing secret exercise where eligible Abia electorates are being deceived to present their permanent voter cards’ serial numbers so as to be offered employment opportunities.

The party described the exercise as fraud being carried out secretly by some political elements to rig the 2019 elections in the state.

Seven governors, 20 senators, others for Obasanjo’s Coalition for Nigeria

A former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo, is mobilising politicians and other Nigerians to sign on to his Coalition for Nigeria project, to oust President Muhammadu Buhari from office.

Many of those consulted by Mr. Obasanjo are said to have signed on to his elaborate plan for a mass movement away from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to “rescue” the country.

Mr. Obasanjo described the two parties as “wobbling” and unfit to run Nigeria.

On Tuesday, the former president issued a scathing public commentary on the Buhari administration, advising the president to take a “deserved rest” and urging Nigerians to vote him out should Mr. Buhari insist on running.

PDP Shuts Out Atiku From Voting At National Convention

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declared yesterday that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar might not vote during its national convention billed for this coming Saturday.

Making reference to the party’s constitution over his eligibility to vote at the convention, the party noted that Atiku would however be allowed to attend and address party members at the convention.

This is even as PDP BoT chairman, Walid Jibrin, has said that the party is waiting for Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker Yakubu Dogara and other Senators and members of the House of Representatives to return to its fold the way Atiku did.

Atiku Cannot Win Any Election, Even In His LG - Presidency

The special assistant on new media to President Muhammadu Buhari, Lauretta One chief has said that the former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar cannot win in his local government if he contests the 2019 presidential election.

Abubakar, who defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday, was quoted to have said he will definitely beat Buhari, should he decide to seek re-election in 2019.

But speaking on Politics Today, a programme on Channels TV, Onochie said, “Atiku has lost touch with reality”.

Onochie said: “Atiku may have had that weight some years ago but over the years he’s been losing that weight and at the moment, I can tell you the even in his local government area in his native Adamawa, he can’t win any election.

Buhari Nominates Ojukwu As NHRC Boss, Writes Senate For Approval

President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Senate to request confirmation of his appointment of Mr. Anthony Ojukwu as Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission.

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, read the letter to senators at the plenary on Tuesday.

The letter read, “‎In accordance with provisions of Section 8 of the National Human Rights Commission Act 2010, I have the pleasure to present Mr. Anthony Okechuwku Ojukwu for confirmation as the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission by the Senate.”

The APC National publicity secretary, Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi told PUNCH that "He is no more in our Party, so we are not interested in what party he joins. Therefore, no comment".

Tinubu Confident Obanikoro's Defection Will Help APC Win Lagos in 2019

A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, is positive about the defection of ex-Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, to the party.

Speaking in Lagos on Saturday, he said that the return of Obanikoro to APC, alongside those who defected with him, would further strengthen the party in the state ahead of the 2019 elections.

Those who defected with Obanikoro include Chief (Mrs.) Modupe Sasore, Chief Jide Damazio, Alhaji Kola Balogun, Mr Jide Ladeinde, a former Lagos PDP youth leader; Hon Kamal Olorunoje and Yinka Balogun, among others.

Emmerson Mnangagwa sworn in as Zimbabwe's new President

Emmerson Mnangagwa has been sworn in as Zimbabwe's president in a ceremony this morning at a packed stadium in the country's capital, Harare.

His swearing in ceremony follows the dramatic resignation of Robert Mugabe after 37 years. The former vice-president's dismissal earlier this month led the ruling Zanu-PF party and the army to intervene and force Mr Mugabe to quit.

Maryam Ali: Ex PDP Chairman's Wife Defects to APC [PHOTO]

Maryam Ali, the wife of an ex-National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sen. Ahmadu Ali, has defected to the All Progressives Congress.

She renounced her membership of the PDP and declared her allegiance to the APC at a brief ceremony at the APC National Secretariat, in Abuja, on Thursday.

She added that she joined APC in order to continue to render service to her people.


Musiliu Obanikoro to defect from PDP to APC this weekend

Former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, will be officially defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) this weekend. He confirmed this in an interview with Channels TV.

Obanikoro, who is currently being investigated for his alleged involvement in the misappropriation of $2.1 arms fund, was a minister under the Goodluck Jonathan administration and was in the running for the Lagos state governorship seat in 2015 but lost the ticket to Jimi Agbaje.

Anambra Election: How Buhari Contributed To Obiano's Victory - APGA

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, has attributed the flawless conduct of the November 18 governorship election in Anambra to President Muhammadu Buhari’s quest to build enduring institutions.

The National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Obi-Okoye made the assertion in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on Tuesday in Awka.

He said the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, could not have recorded such improved performance but for the free hand Buhari gave them to operate.

The official’s stance comes two days after a former National Chairman of APGA made a similar statement.

Governor Ayodele Fayose has described the report of defecting secretly to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC as false.

Recall than an ex-Chief Whip of the Senate and chieftain of the APC in the state, Gbenga Aluko, alleged that Governor Fayose was making plans to defect from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor’s dismissal of the reports was issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Idowu Adelusi.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that voting ended at exactly 2p.m, and counting of votes immediately commenced in the polling units where accreditation and voting commenced between 8a.m and 9a.m on Saturday.

NAN reports that INEC has 4,608 polling units across the 21 local governments areas.
In most polling units located in Orumba, North and South, Aguata, Awka South and Awka North local government areas, counting of votes was still in progress as at 2.30pm.

Jared Kushner’s lawyer failed to give the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee documents President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser received about a “Russian backdoor overture and dinner invite,” the committee’s leaders said on Thursday.

“It appears that your search may have overlooked several documents,” the letter said of Lowell’s responses to three requests for materials related to the committee’s investigation on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
