Dele Alli’s name change
The Sun on Sunday have delved into Dele Alli’s personal life, as they seek to tell their readers why the midfielder has changed his name on back of his shirt this season.
Last season, the Englishman had ‘Alli’ on the back of his Tottenham top. This year, however, it says ‘Dele’ instead.
According to the Sun, the name change is due to a family feud.
Dele & his dad
The Sun have reported how the Tottenham midfielder doesn’t talk with his dad, Kenny Alli:
Kenny Alli, who lives in the US, is so heartbroken that Dele has ditched the family name on the back of his shirt that he travelled 5,000 miles in the hope the Spurs and England ace would talk to him.
In a desperate bid to heal the family rift, Kenny, 46, attended Tottenham’s home match with Liverpool on August 27, where he was blanked by the 20-year-old midfielder.
The Sun stick their nose further into Dele Alli’s business, noting he also no longer talks to his mum too:
Dele’s mum Denise, 53, who remains friends with Kenny despite their divorce, has also been frozen out by her son.
Despite his family issues, Alli opened his account for the season on Saturday in a 4-0 Spurs win away at Stoke. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are p to fourth in the division, and they are yet to be beaten this season (two wins, two draws).
