Unilag Student Faces 4 Semesters Rustication For Social Media Post

A student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Adeyeye Olorunfemi of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences department of Building has been rusticated for 4 semesters for criticising the management of the institution.

It will be recalled that the authorities of the institution recently rusticated 11 executive members of the school’s Students’ Union executives, including its president, Mohammed Olaniyan, over the April 2016 protest.

The affected students were rusticated between two and four semesters, which took effect from the second semester of the 2015/2016 academic session.
Those serving two-semester penalty were informed to apply for readmission at the beginning of the second semester of the 2016/2017 academic session, while those that are out for four semesters are advised to reapply in the second semester of 2017/2018 academic session.

One of the students, Adeyeye Olorunfemi’s was suspended for criticising the leadership of the institution on their inability to manage situations as “democrats”.

The student expressed his mind in his article titled, ”The Senate of the University of Lagos; a Conglomeration of Academic Ignorami”.
