Lionel Messi has beat off competition from the likes of Marek Hamsik, Gonzalo Higuain and Saul Niguez to win the UEFA goal of the season.

Messi’s goal against AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League group stage last season when he finished off an excellent team move which he began himself was voted by fans as the best.

Fans voted for the goal of the year and the Barcelona beat off competition from nine other contenders.
