The manager of Leicester City Claudio Ranieri has urged Riyad Mahrez to stay at the club.
The Leicester City winger has been heavily linked with a move away from the club and there are reports that he has reportedly agreed a €50 million move to Arsenal.
According to Daily Telegraph (UK), the EPL champions have slapped a £45 million price tag on Mahrez as they look to ward off interest from top clubs.Reportedly, the PFA player of the year Riyad Mahrez is ready to quit Leicester City despite the Foxes hoping to tie him to a new and improved contract.Mahrez who was signed from La Havre scored 17 goals and recorded 11 assists as Leicester won the title last season.

However, Ranieri states: “I think Mahrez for us is very important. He’s our light. If he goes to another big team, there are so many lights, so many stars, why? Stay with us, it’s much better. He’s our champion. If he goes to another team, there are so many champions.”

The manager added: “He knows me, I know him very well and I understand when he plays so-so and I keep him on the pitch, maybe another manager when he plays so-so, there are so many other stars and [they’ll] put him on the bench.”He stressed: “For Riyad, it is important you give him confidence, but if you put him on the bench, he gets down. I think, I hope he can stay with us because it’s important for us but also it’s important a lot for him.”Speaking about N’Golo Kante’s move to Chelsea, the coach said: “I could understand N’Golo Kante. We bought him from a little team in France, he came with us, all the world was speaking about N’Golo. I said, ‘If you stay with us one year more, you play Champions League, you improve, experience everything and next season you can go to the big teams’.”

“But these words weren’t good and he wanted to go and I can wish him all the best,” the EPL champion concluded.
