Gary Neville slams The Observer over new England Euro 2016 revelation

Did Gary Neville and Roy Hodgson fall out at Euro 2016?

Ever since England’s humiliating Euro 2016 exit at the hands of Iceland, the English media have been at pains to find a scapegoat. For much of the past week, Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling has been pinpointed for his poor form and seeming indifference to England’s plight – although this line of thinking was quickly shattered.
The likes of Wayne Rooney, Dele Alli, Jack Wilshere and Harry Kane have also come in for plenty of criticism.
Whilst Roy Hodgson, who also quit the England national team in the aftermath of defeat to Iceland, has taken a huge brunt of the flak as well.

“A series of disagreements among the coaching staff”

On Sunday, The Observer, the Sunday version of The Guardian, published a new reason behind England’s poor form and eventual exit from the European Championships.
According to Daniel Taylor, “England’s Euro 2016 campaign was undermined by a deterioration in the working relationship between Roy Hodgson and Gary Neville and a series of disagreements among the coaching staff”.
Taylor, usually a very reliable source for insider football news, cites “signs of tension between Hodgson and Neville.”

And, he also reveals an embarrassing episode from the Iceland defeat: “Hodgson’s training methods – questioned by Steven Gerrard after the last World Cup – were one source of the disagreements. Neville had a close ally in Dave Watson, the goalkeeping coach. Players have complained of mixed messages and the general sense of confusion is not eased by the revelation that one turned to the dugout during the Iceland defeat and asked where a team-mate was supposed to be playing.”

“Apology? Removal of article?”

Just hours after The Observer published this new England Euro 2016 revelation, Gary Neville responded and in some style.
Neville Tweeted a reply to the article on Twitter: “this is absolute bull****! Apology? Removal of article? Let me know!” See the Tweet and screenshot below.

For Neville, it marks a poor 2016 which also saw the former Manchester United right back struggle with Valencia in La Liga.
