It’s looking like being one incredible summer for Crystal Palace fans, as Alan Pardew is on one a helluva spending spree to take the club onto the next level.
The Eagles have already made a series of significant summer additions, with France international keeper Steve Mandanda joining from Marseille, James Tomkins has moved in a 10 million deal from West Ham, while Andros Townsend was a 12 million pound purchase from Newcastle.
But it’s not over.
Liverpool striker Christian Benteke has agreed terms to join Crystal Palace as well.
That isn’t to say the deal is done, as the Eagles need to agree a transfer fee with the Reds.
Timetable for Benteke’s transfer
All signs point to the deal proving a goer.
Palace and Liverpool are still to finalise an agreement on the transfer fee, with Liverpool holding out for a deal that will recoup the £32 million paid to Aston Villa last summer.
But all parties are optimistic a deal will be completed this week, possibly as soon as Monday.
25-year-old Benteke is set to become the highest earner in Crystal Palace’s history.
