Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hints at taking England job in 2017

Arsene Wenger on the England job

Could Arsene Wenger be the next permanent England manager?

In recent days, since England’s humiliating defeat and Euro 2016 exit to Iceland, Arsene Wenger has constantly been linked with taking over the Three Lions following the departure of Roy Hodgson. For much of this time, it has felt like Wenger may well be the man the FA would love to have but the Arsenal boss is a proud Frenchman unlikely to manage England.

And, all the speculation regarding Wenger and England could just be a way for the Arsenal boss to bag a new and improved contract, which has just one season left to run.

“I don’t know what I’ll do after”

On Saturday evening, after Germany’s penalty shoot-out win over Italy, Arsene Wenger appeared on BeIN Sports and was directly asked about the England job.
Wenger replied: “I have a contract until 2017 with Arsenal and I have always respected my contracts, but I don’t know what I’ll do after”.

During the follow up discussion, Wenger refused to rule out taking over the England job after leaving Arsenal despite the fact his fellow panelists kept calling him “diplomatic”.Should England wait for Wenger?
When pushed further, Wenger described the England side as “quite young,
with a lot of potential.”
Perhaps England would be wise to wait for Wenger to finish his contract at Arsenal, in order to have The Professor in charge for the 2018 World Cup?
